Obituary



In loving memory of Lawannia Sue Simmons, who passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Danny Roberts. Sue was born July 14, 1942 in Cabell County, West Virginia the daughter of the late Vernon G. Casey and the late Julia McCoy Moore. Also preceding her in death was one brother, Donald Casey, three sisters, Grace Conley, Patty Casey and Kay Taylor, one son Mark Wade Simmons and one great grandson, Lycan Mathew McDowell. Those surviving her are her loving husband of 57 years, James Allen Simmons, one son and daughter-in-law, James Allen “Bo” Simmons, Jr. , and Laura of Huntington, four grandchildren: Megan McDowell (Brandon) of Grayson, Ky., Chester Aaron Maynard (Christina), Rachael Brynelle Simmons, Tessa Rae Simmons all of Huntington and one great granddaughter Rylie Paige McDowell. Additional survivors include two brothers: Vernon Jr. Casey (Angie), Harvey Casey (Linda) both of Huntington, one sister-in-law Sandra Casey of Huntington, a host of nieces and nephews and one special cousin Barb Hardy also of Huntington. Sue was a wonderful mother and grandmother, an avid bowler with the Pat Casey Memorial League and a person who loved people and everyone loved her. Friends may visit with the family Friday, April 7 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Reger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
