Obituary



CARLYLE RAY BURNS, 88, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Carlyle was born on April 28, 1928, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of the late OM and Chole Taylor Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorla Dotson Burns; brothers and sisters Robert William Burns, Josephine Burns Alberts and Kathleen Burns Boster; his Army buddies Joe Dutro and Allen Hamburg; fishing buddy Dick Raines; and his faithful companions Samantha, Tank, Boots and Peanut. Carlyle was a retired upholsterer, a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Huntington East High School, a member of the American Legion Post 93, Kenova, W.Va., and was an avid trout fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He is survived by his son and daughter Earl Burns of Huntington and Kathy McKeand of Kenova, W.Va.; grandchildren and spouse Josh and Olivia McKeand and Susan McKeand Rucker; one great-grandchild Lyric Dean McKeand; a nephew Randall Alberts; and many friends and family. Visitation and funeral will be private. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family.
