Obituary



John Wesley Maynard, 74, of Kenova, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, on Sunday January 8, 2017 at Riverbend’s Healthcare Center. A celebration of John Maynard’s life will be conducted by Pastor Chuck Lawrence on Friday at 11 am at Christ Temple Church. Burial will be at 1 pm at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV. John was born on February 2, 1942 in Wayne, WV to the late Tennis and Ethel Maynard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and worked as a technician at Special Metals. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law; Mary Casey, and a brother; Dewey Maynard. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Dianna Sue Maynard, three sons; John Maynard Jr., Christopher (Jesse) Maynard, Stephen Maynard, two daughters; Kimberly Lambert, Amy Samples (Mike Newman), three grandchildren; Cameron Leek (Karissa Damron), Maddison Leek, Emmalee Samples, four great grandchildren; Jude Blankenship, Linda Garcia, Summer Garcia, Sydnie Maynard, six sisters; Helen (Ray) Sexton, Ruby (Garland) Napier, Betty (Bob) Davis, Joyce “Jo bug” (Harmon) Adkins, Ann (James) Wells, Ella Mae (Jerry) Smith, one brother; Harold (Vernita) Maynard, a host of special nieces and nephews whom he loved very much, as his own. Special friends Gene and Betty Sims and Dorothy Bannister. Honorary Pallbearers; Alford “Huggy Bear” and Mike Adkins. Friends may call from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, January 12 at the Reger Funeral Home. There will be no procession to the cemetery.
