Obituary



Oddine P. Childers, 76 of Kenova, WV went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2017 at Locust Grove Baptist Church, of which she was a member by Pastor Randall Robertson. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Section of Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. Oddine was born December 2, 1940 in Cabell County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Oddra O. “Pappy” and Marjorie “Mammy” Crockett Perdue. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Lee Vickers and her husband William J. Vickers, brother-in-law Bill Brammer and one nephew, David Mark Brammer. Survivors include her husband, James L. Childers, two sons and daughters-in-law: James P. (Rhonda) Childers, Timothy D. (Cynthia) Childers, one daughter: Velvet B. Kelly; six grandchildren: Chad Hay, Chelsea Hall, Zach Childers, Paige Childers, Vense Kelly and Sarah Kelly, as well as five great grandchildren and one sister Wanda L. Brammer and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to her niece Jenny Smith for the care she gave to Oddine as well as the EDJ Hospice House of Huntington. Visitation will be held from 6-9 PM Thursday, at the Locust Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
