Obituary


Leah “Dolores” Morris, 84, of Huntington, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Earl Burgess. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. Dolores was born July 13, 1932 in Cove Gap, WV, a daughter of the late George Ross and Bertie Mae “Adkins” Ross. After graduation at Wayne County High School, Dolores moved to Huntington where she worked at Owens Illinois for forty-three years until the factory closed in 1993. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Verlon Morris, in 1965, her life-long partner, Dexter Miller, her sisters, Rose Mary Stone and Pauline Lucas, and her grandson, Larry Lee Chinn. Survivors include a son, Larry Lee Morris, a granddaughter, Angie Morris, a great grandson, Dylan McLoud, and a sister, Joyce Noland. Dolores was a second mother to her nephews Michael Lucas, Jimmy Stark, Bill Stein and Scott Noland, her nieces Paula Lucas and Sherrie Lynn McGrath and her step grandchildren, Jackie Chinn and Raymond “Bubby” Chinn. There are a host of great-nieces and great-nephews who loved Dolores as a grandmother. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home.
