Obituary



Mary Ellen Workman Blankenship, 71 of Kenova won her battle with illness and entered into peaceful rest on Friday, May 19 , 2017 at her residence. She was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, grammy and friend to so many that loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Ruth Workman, two brothers, Garrett and Charles Workman, and a very special friend Carol Sammons. She leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, Hiram Blankenship, Jr., her children and their spouses, Lisa (Bill) Palmer, Steve (Vicki) Blankenship, LaShelle (Scott) Stambaugh, all of Kenova, eight grandchildren: Courtney (Heath), Alex (Abbey), Marci, Christian, Allison, Austin, Jake (Morgan) and Jordan (Josie), five great grandbabies: Lilah, Caroline, Reese, Ellie, Jensen and one on the way. All of who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by a sister, Dova Murphy and a special sister-in-law Sylvia Luther. Those that know her knew of her special love for dogs, and she leaves behind two fur babies Lucy and Bella. Her family would like to especially thank Andi, Rhonda and Tina of Hospice for their Compassion, Care and support over the last 4 months. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel, by Pastor Eddie Hay. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday at the Reger Funeral Home.
