Glen Russell “Hack” Wilson, 97 of Huntington, WV passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Wyngate of Barboursville. Hack was born November 11, 1920 in St. Louis, MO the older son of Troy and Edith Mowrey Wilson. His early years were spent in Weston, WV and he graduated from Weston High School in Lewis County. He worked for Fort Pitt Shoe Store in New Martinsville, WV and was manager from 1940-1942. While in New Martinsville he met his wife, Betty Louise VanCamp on a blind date and they were married June 21, 1942. Hack joined the Navy during WWII and served from 1942-1945. He then worked at the Huntington Post Office from 1945 until his retirement in 1975. He was the CEO of Huntington Postal Credit Union for 26 years and retired in 1989. He was a 19 gallon blood donor, Kentucky Colonel, Member of VFW, DAV and American Legion, attended Marshall University, and was a 50 year 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was an avid golfer, member of Sugarwood Golf Course for over 30 years; he enjoyed MU sports and attended most home football , men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games. Hack was also a faithful supporter of Central United Methodist Church, Hospice of Huntington, and several other charitable organizations. His beloved wife Betty, preceded him in death as well as his parents, and brother James Robert Wilson. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Adams; four grandchildren: Courtney (Dwayne) Nunez, Sarah (Terence) Tarpley, Joseph (Nikki) Adams, and Kari (Tom) Wolfe, 9 great grandchildren: Emma, Erin, and Elijah Nunez, Tylon and Tyton Tarpley, Natasha Wolfe, and Caitlyn, Makenzie, and Emily Adams. Three special friends, Susan Popp, Joe George, and Greenie Greenstein survive him as well. The family would like to thank the staff of Wyngate of Barboursville for the excellent care provided to him in the last 3 ˝ years of his life. Funeral services will be conducted at Central United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 by Rev. Michael Rexroad. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time at 2:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington 1101 6th Avenue Huntington, Wv 25701 or to Central United Methodist Church, P. O Box 6487 Huntington, WV 25772. American Legion Post 93 of Kenova will conduct graveside military rites.
