James William Reed, 79 of South Point, Ohio, passed away Friday, May, 4, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday May 8, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Patrick Elliott; burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Ohio. James was born March 28, 1939 in Chillicothe, Ohio a son of the late William B. and Ethel Russell Reed. He was a retired supervisor from Heiner’s Bakery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother Beulah Cooper McGarvey Reed, his daughter Angela Kay Reed, one brother Roy Reed, three step brothers Jim McGarvey, Darrell McGarvey, and Dick McGarvey. Those that survive him include his wife Diane Reed, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce (Becky) Reed of Topeka, Kansas and Brett Reed of South Point, Ohio, one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Ray) Evans of Huntington,WV eight grandchildren: Alison Adkins, Autumn Reed, Cory Reed, Will Reed, Morgan Catt, Ryan Evans, Tristan Evans and Kearston Blatt, and seven great-grandchildren: Daison Catt, Dominik Catt, Connor Reed, Bryson Evans, Kenna Evans Kayla Evans and Kingston Blatt. One brother Don(Dee) Reed, three sisters- in-law: Cheri Reed, Celia Mavis, Lill Dailey; several nieces and nephews and one special friend Okie Cremeans all survive him as well. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM on Tuesday until service time at 1:00 PM at the Reger Funeral Chapel.
