WILLIAM CARTER III
(September 16, 1950 - July 8, 2014)



WILLIAM CARTER III, 63, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Huntington. Bill Carter was born September 16, 1950, in Huntington. He was the son of Gladys Sorrell Carter and William Carter Jr. Bill's early and secondary education was in the Huntington Public School System. He attended Simms Elementary, Oley Jr. High and graduated from Huntington High School. Mr. Carter enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation, where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam before being honorably discharged. Bill married the former Leona Brinegar in April of 2004. They shared 10 years together. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church, Huntington. Bill is preceded in death by his brother Dirk Carter, his grandmothers, Martha Carter and Anna Pendleton. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Leona Carter; seven children, Dion (Camelia) Carter, Leron Washington, Mark Washington, Aaron Moore, Shannon Moore, Nathaniel Moore, and Isaac Carter; and grandchildren, Cabrina Carter, Armon Washington and Christina Carter (deceased). Bill also leaves behind his sister, April Carter Dawson of Columbus, Ohio, his brother-in-law, the late Charles Dawson, a host of nieces, a nephew, cousins, aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Huntington, by Rev. Donte Jackson. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. at the church on Sunday. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements.
