Robert Scott Payne
(August 15, 1961 - July 12, 2014)



ROBERT SCOTT PAYNE, 52, of Barboursville, a loving husband, devoted father and brother, and proud grandpa, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014. He was born on August 15, 1961 in Charleston, W.Va., Kanawha County. He was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School where he was a Navy Seal Cadet. He was a volunteer of the Gauley Bridge Fire Department and Valley Ambulance. He was a US Navy veteran and before being disabled was a long haul chemical tanker driver. He was the son of the late Leonard Lloyd and Doris Ann (Combs) Payne. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Marie (Rayburn-Staley) Payne; two sons, Corporal Jonathan Robert Payne of the Hurricane Police Department and his wife Jessica of Hurricane, and Kevin Scott Payne of Hesperia, Michigan; one daughter, Jordan Paige Payne of Gauley Bridge, W.Va.; one stepson, J.R. (Heather) Staley of Glenwood, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Mandy (Brian) Kelly and Britney (Keith) Elliott, both of Barboursville; one granddaughter, Aubrey Claire Payne of Hurricane; three step granddaughters, Hannah Staley, Jacqueline Huff and Allyson Asbury; four step grandsons, Carter Brown, Sawyer Kelly, Brandon and Zander Elliott; one step great grandson, Scott Thomas Huff; one beloved sister, Deborah and brother-in-law Jeff Irwin of Jacksonville, Florida; and his mother-in-law, Oweda "Peachie" Mount of Barboursville, and a host of family and friends. There will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a celebration of his life at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Barboursville Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
