Lillian Ruth Clagg Alberts Burks
(October 18, 1927 - April 28, 2-16)



Lillian Ruth Clagg Alberts Burks, 88, of Barboursville, WV, long time resident of Wayne Continuous Care, went home to be in the peace and loving arms of her Lord, Creator and Savior, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Born October 18, 1927 in Putnam County, WV, the daughter of the late George and Garnett Cremeans Clagg. She is preceded in death by a daughter Judy Taylor; her first husband Roy Everett “Gabe” Alberts and her second husband Harold Lee Burks; daughter-in-law, Tammy Alberts; grandson Gabriel Alberts; as well as her siblings, Howard Clagg, Kelson Clagg, Burman Clagg, Violet Rayburn, and Lula Nibert. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, James and Nova Alberts of Barboursville and Dennis Alberts of Chapmanville, WV; son-in-law, Jim Taylor; a special granddaughter, Andrea Halley of Huntington, whom she raised; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend, who doted on her family and friends. She had a green thumb and talent for cooking. She was a devoted member of Cyrus Creek Baptist Church. She loved being outdoors, was very active hiking, gardening, shopping at Elder Beerman and taking trips with family especially to the beach. Being with family was the highlight of her life. She was a practical joker by nature, loved playing tricks, teasing to get a laugh out of everyone. She lived her life simply and for the Lord and made it known to all who met her what the important things in life were, “Faith, family, and friends in that order. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolen Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Street, Huntington, WV 25702. Many thanks to the loving staff there and Wayne Continuous Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Bob Ray. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
