Obituary
Lois Ann Blair (Thomas), a loving wife, mother and grandmother
passed away peacefully on
Saturday April 28th
2007 at
Roper
Hospital in
Charleston,
South Carolina.
She was 71. Lois Ann, or affectionately known as
“Lou”, was born on October 12, 1935, in
Huntington,
West Virginia to Maynard and
Mattie Thomas. She always had very fond memories of Highlawn Pharmacy in
Huntington which was owned by her
family. She was named Ms. Highlander of
East
Huntington
High School in 1952 and
graduated in 1953. She then attended
Marshall
University and the
University of
Cincinnati where she
developed life long friendships and a love of knowledge.
She Graduated from
Huntington
Cosmetology
School in 1957.
She married Fred Blair on August 16, 1958. They
extended their family by having three children: Lesli, Annlyn, and Carter.
Devotion to her family became her most important job.
Lois Ann was a talented artist who enjoyed interior decorating and
painting. In addition, she was very active in her
community of
Wheeling,
WV from 1967 to 1986 as a
member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and as a member of Vance
Memorial Presbyterian Church. From 1986 to 1996, she was
quite busy in her new community in
Beverly Hills,
Michigan.
Her volunteer work continued, and she especially looked forward to her
involvement in the annual rummage sale at First Presbyterian Church of
Birmingham. She also had new grandchildren during that
time that she loved to visit in
Virginia.
Lois Ann and Fred settled in
Mount Pleasant,
South Carolina in 1996,
enjoying the year round warm weather and the casual coastal lifestyle.
Being a woman of deep faith and having a love for the Lord, she
worshiped at
St. Andrews
Church in
Mt.
Pleasant.
She is missed by all who love her. She is
survived by her husband Fred, her children Lesli, Annlyn, Carter, her
grandchildren, Brittany, Melissa, Jillian, Drexyl, Sawyer, Carly, and her
brothers, Andrew and Maynard Thomas. Viewing will be on
Thursday, May 3rd from
12:00-2:00p.m. at Beard
Mortuary in
Huntington,
West Virginia with services to
