Obituary

Lois Ann Blair (Thomas), a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday April 28th 2007 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.  She was 71.  Lois Ann, or affectionately known as “Lou”, was born on October 12, 1935, in Huntington, West Virginia to Maynard and Mattie Thomas. She always had very fond memories of Highlawn Pharmacy in Huntington which was owned by her family.  She was named Ms. Highlander of East Huntington High School in 1952 and graduated in 1953.  She then attended Marshall University and the University of Cincinnati where she developed life long friendships and a love of knowledge.  She Graduated from Huntington Cosmetology School in 1957.  She married Fred Blair on August 16, 1958.  They extended their family by having three children: Lesli, Annlyn, and Carter.  Devotion to her family became her most important job.  Lois Ann was a talented artist who enjoyed interior decorating and painting.  In addition, she was very active in her community of Wheeling, WV from 1967 to 1986 as a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and as a member of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church.  From 1986 to 1996, she was quite busy in her new community in Beverly Hills, Michigan.  Her volunteer work continued, and she especially looked forward to her involvement in the annual rummage sale at First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham.  She also had new grandchildren during that time that she loved to visit in Virginia.  Lois Ann and Fred settled in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina in 1996, enjoying the year round warm weather and the casual coastal lifestyle.  Being a woman of deep faith and having a love for the Lord, she worshiped at St. Andrews Church in Mt. Pleasant.  She is missed by all who love her.  She is survived by her husband Fred, her children Lesli, Annlyn, Carter, her grandchildren, Brittany, Melissa, Jillian, Drexyl, Sawyer, Carly, and her brothers, Andrew and Maynard Thomas.  Viewing will be on Thursday, May 3rd from 12:00-2:00p.m. at Beard Mortuary in Huntington, West Virginia with services to follow.  Charitable donations can be made to Rector’s Fund, St. Andrews Church, 440 Whilden Street, Mt.
