Obituary
William Forrest “Mac” McDowell, 87, died at
Heritage
Center Monday, December
8, 2008. Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with Pastor
Joseph Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow in
Spring
Hill
Cemetery.
He was born August 19, 1921, a son of the late Ivan McDowell and
Edith Benson. He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Ruth “Jean” Angel McDowell; stepparents, Randolph Benson and Mable McDowell;
brother, Charles “Bud” McDowell; and special cousin and best friend,
Linville Adkins. He served in the US Coast Guard and the
US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the VFW
Post 9738, Guyandotte and the Scottish Highland Society.
He also worked for the Tri-State Transit Authority and the Huntington Flood
Wall Board. He is survived by one son and
daughter-in-law, Byron “BC” and Pamela Lusher of Ona, WV; two grandchildren,
Zachary and Carlee of Ona; Brother and sister-in-law, John and Susan Flavin
of Sarasota, FL; honorary grandchildren, Joseph, Jeramiah and Jon Clarkson
and Haley and Cody Moore; and his Homestead Family at Heritage.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Mortuary.
