Obituary
Artie “Papaw” Romans, Jr., 59, of Huntington,
passed away Friday, December 05, 2008 in Hospice House of Huntington, after
a courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral service
will be conducted 11:00 AM, Monday, December 8, 2008 at Beard Mortuary.
Burial will follow in
Hillcrest
Cemetery, Kenova.
He was born November 16, 1949 in
Jolo,
WV a son of the late Artie, Sr.
and Lily Mae Tomblin Roman. He was a United States Army
veteran who served in
Vietnam.
He was retired from Special Metals. He is
survived by his wife, Teresa Akers Romans; son, Richie Romans of Huntington;
daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Fikes of South Point, OH and their mother,
Clarice Romans of Huntington; stepson, Timothy Johnson of Huntington; his
grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Ethan Romans, Parker Fikes,
and Payton Fikes; sister, Belvra Jean Smith of Huntington; brother, Dewey
Romans of Ft. Wayne, IN; mother-in-law, Jean Akers of Huntington; several
nieces and nephews; special friend, Barry Westmoreland.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Artie’s
caring doctors, Dr. Marie Stemple and Dr. Gerrit Kimmey and their staff for
their care and friendship. Visitation will be from 4-6
PM, Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Beard Mortuary. Those
who wish may make donations to Hospice of Huntington.
