Obituary
Pauline Lillian Starr Ross, 93 of
Barboursville,
WV, died Thursday July 10, 2008
at her residence. She was born May 8, 1915 on the edge of Parkersburg, WV in
Central City, the daughter of the late William F. “Montie” Starr and Susanna
Pauline Tanner. She was retired from the Huntington District U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers after years of
service, where she was training officer of personnel. She was preceded in
death by her husband , Charles E. Ross of Barboursville and her son David
Frederick Lykins of
Chester,
VA. She is survived by her
granddaughter, Dianna Starr Lykins Flaherty and her husband, Gregory Scott
and a great-grandson, Matthew Scott all of Hopewell, VA; daughter-in-law,
Mary K. Lykins of Prince George, VA; sister-in-law, Reba Creason of Fort
Myers, FL and nieces, Sherri McKown and Christa Chausee of Fort Myers; a
step daughter Patricia Louise Lichok and husband, Stephen of Scottsdale, AZ;
a step granddaughter, Susan Cefalu and husband, Vince and step grandson
Stephen Lichok and wife, Dani and step grandson Michael Lichok and wife,
Alicia. She was a graduate of Marshall University Regents Degree, Magna Cum
Laude in May 1985. She was a member of the National Society of The Daughters
of the American Revolution Buford Chapter. Charter president of the
Castlettes Toastmistress Club 1968, member of the Beverly Hills Womans Club
and the Christian Womans Club. She was a 2006 inductee to the Gallery of
Distinguished Civilian Employees and a member of
Baptist
Temple, where she was a
member of the Berean Bible Class. Pauline, or “Patty” to many, was a
dedicated Huntingtonian who loved life, family and friends. In lieu of
flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Huntington
City Mission Children’s Camp at P.O. Box 3, Huntington, WV 25706. Funeral
services will be held on Monday July 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Beard
Mortuary with Rev. Andrew J. Magnusson officiating. Burial will follow
at
Spring
Hill
Cemetery. Friends may
call from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
