Obituary
James Russell “Jim” Maynard, 83, of Dothan, AL, formerly of Huntington, passed away Thursday September 2, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Maynard was born October 23, 1927 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Cabell and Mary Crawford Maynard. He grew up in the Huntington area. He graduated from Huntington East Trade School as a Machinist in August 1946 and again in 1957 as an Auto Mechanic. He was a veteran of the Korean War. On October 10, 1953 he married Charlene Montgomery and they had four children. He was employed for nearly 50 years in the Cigar Business where he moved and traveled extensively for the company. He settled in Philipsburg, PA where he lived until he moved with the company to Dothan, AL in 1985. On February 14, 1981 he married his present wife Norma Beatty. He was preceded in death by one son Brent Russell Maynard; his parents; his brother Fred Maynard; one sister Phyllis Harbor; and one grandson Michael Zueger. Survivors include his wife Norma of 29 years; his children, James Allen (Shelby) Maynard of Belleforte, PA; Robert Joe (Shannon) Maynard, of DuBois, PA; Brenda Sue Bragnier of Lexington, KY; his sister Lucy Schlottlein; four step children Joseph Beatty of Dothan, AL; Bradley (Denise) Beatty of Taylor, AL; Paula (Richard) Zulger of Piano, TX; Sherry (Bill) Knipp of Phillipsburg, PA. Surviving grandchildren include James Russell (Angela) Maynard of Lance, PA.; Joseph Meredith Maynard of Breingsville, PA; Nickolas Michael (Wendy) Maynard of Brisban, PA; Stephanie Amanda (Tim) Mattis of Munson, PA; Jessica Rose (Kyle) Manor of Nashville, TN. Riley Ammeritt and Rorrie Alexander Maynard of Dubois, PA.; Kenneth James Knepp of Philipsburg, PA; Preston Caleb (Briann) Knapp of Philipsburg, PA; Aric Braden and Maxon Jerod Zulger of Piano, TX; three great grandchildren Maddalyne Elizabeth Mattis of Munson, PA; James Russell Maynard, Jr. of Lance, PA; Kaden Avery Maynard of Brisban, PA. He is also survived by numerous sister and brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews from all sides of family, and his first wife the mother of his children. Memorial services for Mr. Maynard will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Ron Burnsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. Friends may call from 1 PM until time of the service at the mortuary.
