JIMMIE LEE SMITH SR., 74, of Huntington, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 10, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Jimmie was born on May 10, 1936 in Huntington, a son of the late Gaines Arthur and Katherine America Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Tonya Gay Murphy; brothers Gene, Bobby Jo, and Delbert Smith; and a grandson-in-law, Tommy Hall. He was retired from ACF and was a member of First Huntington Christian Baptist Church. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Donna Marlene Smith; son Jimmie Lee Smith Jr.; four granddaughters and their husbands, Roberta and Travis Noble of Barboursville, Jamie and Jason Stapleton of Huntington, Beth and Jared Van Reenan of Huntington and Carrie Hall and Jay Meadows of Huntington; five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Maxwell Noble, Parker Van Reenan, and Marissa and Thomas Hall; two sisters, Betty Erwin of Huntington and Teb Holderby of Huntington; one brother and his wife, Gaines and Mattie Smith of Huntington; Sisters-in Law and Brothers-in-law David and Shirley Armstrong of Chesapeake, OH, Bucky and Wanda Roy of Lesage, and Sam Roy of Lesage. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Connie Spitler. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Huntington Christian Baptist Church, Huntington, with Pastor Richard Maynard officiating. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington.
