Shirley R. Blake

SHIRLEY R. BLAKE, 88, of Huntington passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 in Cabell Huntington Hospital.  He was born October 8, 1929, to the late Gaut Albert and Goldie Blake.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell Blake and a nephew, Danny Clark.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Fannie LeGrand Blake; a sister, Gwendolyn Posten (Kenneth); sister- in- laws, Anna Lee Clark and Donna Worls (John). Additional survivors include nieces, Teresa Bailey (Paul), Beryle Queen (Eddie) and Renee Waterson; nephews, Michael Browning (Nedra), Anthony Worls, Randy  Clark (Diann), Stephen LeGrand, Rodney LeGrand (Lisa ), Kenny Posten Jr., Marlin Posten and several great-nieces and great-nephews, all whom he loved very much.  Shirley was retired from State Electric Supply, was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a Mason, a member of the Elks Club of Huntington, and a member of the Esquire Golf Course where he loved to play golf. He was a fun loving, kind, giving man who was very devoted to his wife and all of his extended family.  He will be greatly missed by us all. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Tim Halloran, officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services.
