Florence Perry
(October 04, 1912 - May 3, 2012)


Florence M. (nee Hall) Perry, age 99, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Chateau Grove Senior Living Center. She resided at 274 Kentucky Street, Huntington, West Virginia from 1976 to 2011 along with her husband, Fred M. Perry, who preceded her in death in 1984. She was the first daughter born to Georgia (nee McCoy) Hall and Albert Hall at Leet, WV, Lincoln County, West Virginia on October 4, 1912. Florence graduated from Man High School, Man, West Virginia 1n 1928. She continued her schooling at Berea College, Berea, Kentucky from 1928 to 1933, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She returned to Logan County and worked as a sales clerk in the Amherst Coal Company store at Accoville, West Virginia. She married Fred. M. Perry on May 10, 1939 in Pikeville, Kentucky. She gave birth to Fred M. Perry, Jr, on May 12, 1938, who survives her. She and her family resided variously at Accoville, Man, Yolyn, and Peck’s Mill in West Virginia prior to her retirement in 1976. She taught at Chapmanville Elementary School form 1962 until 1974.Florence was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harry Lee Hall, Rev. Howard Hall, Thomas Edward Hall, Charles Hall, half brother Glen Hall, and sisters, Gail (nee Hall) Porter, and Ruth (nee Hall) Staten. In addition to her son, Florence is survived by grandsons, Christopher Perry and David Perry, granddaughter, Sara L. Perry, great grandsons Jay Min Perry, Graydon Kimbrough Perry, and great granddaughter Nora C. Kimbrough Perry. Until her recent illness, Florence lived alone in her home through the generosity and support of her niece, Linda (nee Staten) Lowry, her daughter, Andrea (nee Lowry) Farmer, son Michael Lowry, grandson Andrew Lowry and neighbor Larry Coyle. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 4, 2012 at Ridgelawn of Devotion, Ridgelawn Memorial Park.
