George Edward Jackson, Jr.

In loving memory of George E. Jackson, Jr., 84, of Edgewater, FL, formerly of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully at home November 10, 2012 under Hospice Care by Vitas in Edgewater, FL. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and served on the ship USS Siboney CVE-112 during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 and VFW Post 9738. He was owner of Jackson Barber and Beauty Shop and part owner of Wright Christian Overhead Door Co. He was preceded in death by his parents George E. Jackson, Sr. and Lillian Mount Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Joandel Miller Jackson. His loving children Richard (Connie) Jackson, Mark Jackson, Scott (Jackie) Jackson, Kay (Terry) Holland and Elizabeth (Joe) Schuler, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was a member of Beverly Hills UMC of Huntington, WV and Edgewater UMC of FL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Beverly Hills UMC choir. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday November 15, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Rev. Suzanne Ellis & Rev. William Haynes, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Viewing will be at 12:00 PM until service time Thursday. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. After the services at the cemetery everyone is welcome for a gathering at the farm.
