Obituary



Joseph Cephus Meade, 90, of Huntington, WV, widower of Bessie Lorajean Meade, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Phillip Warren and Dr. David B. Lemming officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. He was born July 17, 1925, in Crum, WV, a son of the late William Jennings and Elizabeth Marcum Meade. In addition to his parents and wife, 2 sisters, Angie Garforth and Joyce Fisher also preceded him in death. Joe graduated in 1944 from Wayne High School, and served in the Marine Corps. He received a degree in Horology from Bradley University in 1946, and was a member of Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church. He was a watchmaker, jeweler and manager for Parkers Jewelers in Huntington, and retired from Pollocks Jewelers in Ashland, KY. Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and David Hatfield, and Carolyn and Greg Kuhn all of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jean Kimler of Holden, WV; 6 grandchildren, JoBeth Kuhn, Ryan Hatfield, Jennifer and Chad Ball, Michael and Julie Kimler, Mark and Leslie Kimler, and Regina and Donnie Robinson; 2 great-grandchildren, Lyla and London Ball; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was known for his patience and the love he had for his family, and will be happy to be reunited with his loving wife, family and friends from Crum. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the visitation ministry at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church.
