Obituary

Lillian V. Smith 86, of Huntington, West Virginia passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Medical Center on April 18, 2016 and went to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her loving husband of 60 years James Smith. Lillian was born in Wayne County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Alex and Nancy Salmons. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Debrel and Alex Salmons and her sister Anna Mae Wellman. Lillian leaves behind her loving daughters and sons-in-law Charlotte Smith, Vicki (Ken) Halstead, Jamie (David) Stratton; granddaughter, Lexa (Jamie) Woodyard, grandsons Craig and Wesley (Brittany) Halstead; great-grandsons. James, Jacob and Joshua Woodyard. She is also survived by her brother Drexel Salmons; her nephew Ron Clark and her many dear friends. Lillian was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother who was known as "Nan" and great-grandmother who was known as "Nanny". She was a homemaker and devoted herself to making a loving Christian home for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and helping others. For sixty years, Lillian truly loved and served the Lord. She attended First Altizer Free Will Baptist Church. She maketh fine linen and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also and he praiseth her. Proverbs 3l: 24-28. At her request, a private memorial service was held by the family on April 20, 2016.
