    Obituary
     Punita Jani, 
    of Huntington, WV, wife of Vijay Bhatt, died Friday February 26, 7:30pm 
    peacefully at her home. She was born January 27, 1951 in Rajkot, India, the 
    daughter of the late Ichhashanker and Kshama Jani. Her survivors include her 
    husband Vijay Bhatt, two step daughters, Radha of Ann Arbor, MI, and Kashi 
    of Dallas, TX; a step son, Ajay and wife, Clemencia, of Washington, DC; a 
    grandson, Gabriel Bhatt; and a sister, Gopa Bhatt and her husband, Ashutosh, 
    and their children Nandita and Bhishma.  Punita Jani hails from a 
    highly cultural family. Mother Kshama Pandya graduated with English Honors 
    in Shakespearean literature from Bombay University. Her Father Ichhashankar 
    Jani was the Manager of Bombay Airport and commercial manager for Indian 
    Airlines. Punita's Maternal grandfather was the founder of Ram Krishna 
    Ashram in Rajkot and Deewan of Rajkot State. Her Paternal grandfather was 
    Deewan of Bilkha state.  Punita was the youngest graduate from 
    Government Law College in Bombay at the age of 21. She worked for Gulf Air 
    for a few years, then went to New York as president of Metro Exports in the 
    1980's and then began her own company, PJ International and PJ Contracting.  
    In 1995 she married Vijay Bhatt in Huntington WV.  She was avid fan of 
    Indian music, a very good singer and remembered songs like a juke box. 
    Punita spoke several languages including English, Gujarati, Hindi, and Urdu, 
    was well versed in Marathi, Sindhi and Punjabi. She had an excellent 
    knowledge of the ancient spiritual language of India, Sanskrit.  She 
    was lifelong Sai Baba devotee and member of the Tri-State Sai Seva Group 
    (Huntington City Mission). She was a also member of the Tri-State India 
    Association and a member of local Gita Satsang group.  Funeral services 
    will be conducted with a viewing Sunday at 1pm and a service at 2pm at 
    Chapman's Mortuary with Sri Ashwath officiating.
