Obituary
Norma Rose (Delligatti) Tyson of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center with loving family and friends by her side. She was born on February 15th, 1926 in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of the late Andrew and Rose Buffano Delligatti. Norma is the loving mother of David Richard Tyson of Huntington and Patricia Ann (Tyson) Gebhard and her husband Robert of Moon Twp., PA. She has three very special granddaughters and their spouses, Annie and Jeff Massey of St. Augustine, Fla., Laura and Luke Havrilla, and Julie and Kelly Robinson of Pittsburgh, Pa. She has a very close brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Delligatti Jr. in Fairmont, W.Va and a late sister Gloria and brother-in-law Peter Magnifico of Grafton, W.Va., and a late sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce and James Williams. She is also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Geneva (Gerald) Tyson of Huntington and many loving nieces and nephews. Norma was a graduate of St. Peter's Catholic School, where she attended for 12 years, and earned a B.S. Degree from Fairmont State University. After graduation, she worked for Westinghouse Corporation. It was on September 2nd, 1949 when she met "the love of her life" on a train, Richard. While working and dating for 3 years, they married on October 18th 1952 and later moved to Huntington where they were happily married for 62 years. She was a volunteer and homeroom mother for many years at Our Lady of Fatima Parish School, as well as a volunteer at St. Mary's Medical Center for 16 years. However, of all the things she did in life, Norma was a wife, mother and grandmother first and foremost. She was a strong woman of faith who lived and breathed for her son David, daughter Patty and "three little angels," whom affectionately called their grandma "Mimi". She and the Love of Her Life, Richard, were inseparable; the story of their love and commitment to one another was something truly beautiful, as witnessed by anyone who was lucky enough to know them. They wrote love notes to each other practically every day and his favorite tale to share was how they first met, lovingly titled in a short story he wrote - "The Girl on The Train." Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 17th at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rev. Monsignor Joseph Peterson, Celebrant and Father Paul Yuenger and Father Godwin Olugbami, Co-Celebrants. Readers will be Mrs. Charlene Farrell and Mrs. Coby Hickman. Mayor Steve Williams will have the eulogy. Ushers will be Tony Cavalier and Daryl Ball. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Pallbearers will be Judge Darrell Pratt, Delegate Doug Reynolds, Sheriff Tom McComas, Senator Bob Plymale, Tommy Prelaz and Chris Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish School, The Village of Riverview in Barboursville, or The Marshall Artist Series. Visitation will be at Chapman's Mortuary on Tuesday, February 16th from 6-8 PM.
