Obituary
Richard Eugene Beckner, 65, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 11, 2017, while doing his favorite thing, selling antiques at Court Days in Mt. Sterling, KY. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, October 16 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Greg Tomblinson officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Richard was born January 26, 1952, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Earl and Pauline Beckner. He retired from the US Postal Service with 35 years as a Letter Carrier, and was a member of the NACL, Branch 359, where he served as president for 2 years. He was recognized by the Postmaster General and received 2 awards for his involvement with diversity with the City of Huntington. Richard was an outgoing friendly person who loved helping people. He had a unique gift of being able to communicate with people from all walks of life, and he never met a stranger. Richard also played Santa Claus for 35 years bringing joy and happiness to children in the Tri-State area. He loved going to Myrtle Beach and shark fishing with his sons. Family was the heart of Richard's life; from his wife and sons to his extended family. He is survived by his wife, Karen, their 2 sons, Richard and Robert Beckner, and his sister Darlene Taylor (Ray). Friends may call from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to service time Monday.
