Sandra "Sandy" Kay Adkins, 65, of Huntington, WV, passed away at her home on Friday, February 1, 2019. Sandy was born on July 9, 1953 in West Hamlin, WV, a daughter of the late Alfred Abshire and Doris Belcher Abshire. She attended Guyan Valley High School and was an assistant store manager for Catherine's and Dress Barn. She was the wife of Daniel Adkins and together shared over 50 years of marriage. Besides her loving husband, Sandy is survived by two sons, Daniel Paul Adkins and Adam Scott (Christie) Adkins, two special grandsons, Liam and Aidan Adkins, all of Huntington; a brother, Alfred Abshire, Jr. of Ranger, WV; two sisters, Sheila (Bill) Frazier of Ranger, and Della (Doug) Prichard, also of Ranger; a half-sister, Angel Abshire-Kuharik, and a half-brother, Michael Abshire, both of northern Ohio; a brother in-law, Junior Adkins of Ranger, WV; a sister in-law, Odessa Adkins of West Hamlin, WV; a special aunt, Vada Abshire of Pleasant View, WV, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2:00 PM at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, WV.
