Obituary


James Anthony Mitchell


James Anthony Mitchell, 49, of Huntington, significant other of Tanisha Grimes, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 11, 1972 in Wayne County, MI., the son of William Wilson and Pamela Mitchell, both of Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Wilson. James worked for Appalachian Industrial Gas. He was a coach of basketball at the Huntington Boys and Girls Club, enjoyed training children for football, traveling, and family time. In addition to his parents and Tanisha, survivors include two daughters, Shanna Higgins of Detroit, MI, and Jayme Mitchell of Huntington; five sons, James Mitchell, Jr. of Detroit, MI., Jamoe Mitchell of Nitro, WV., James "A.J." Grimes of Huntington, J'Anthony Grimes of Huntington, and Joseph Grimes of Huntington; and several brothers and sisters. A memorial celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the A.D. Lewis Center (1450 A.D. Lewis Drive, Huntington).
