Clifton Eugene Coffey
(August 7, 1954 - January 16, 2022)

Clifton Eugene Coffey

Clifton Eugene Coffey, 67, of Huntington, WV, formally of Quinwood, WV, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Saint Mary's Hospital after a long and hard-fought battle that he bravely confronted. Born August 7, 1954, he was the youngest child of the late Howard Clinton and Mary Bell (Scott) Coffey. Until his illness, Clifton was spontaneous, energetic, and fun-loving. He took pleasure in the things and people around him. He was warm and playful with an open sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He entertained his family with a harmonica and practical jokes, and he was friendly and liked by all who knew him. Clifton spent most of his career as a concrete finisher in Northern Virginia. He was an experienced laborer who acquired the necessary skills to complete building and construction-related jobs. Many of his jobs depended on the task at hand. Mr. Coffey was of the Christian faith and was affiliated with both the Nutterville Apostolic Church and the Sugar Grove Methodist Church, both in Quinwood, WV. Along with his parents he was predeceased by brothers Carl Buford Coffey, Arnold Franklin Coffey, Woodrow Howard Coffey, Kenneth Bruce Coffey, and Larry Douglas Coffey; sisters, Barbara Jean (Coffey) Belcher and Claudia Sue Coffey; brother-in-law Paris Belcher, sister-in-law, Nellie "Bucky" Coffey; nephews Alan Dean Coffey, Manuel Lee Coffey, and a niece, Tabitha Lynn (Coffey) Clark. Clifton was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Left to cherish and forever remember him are his son Exziah Ryan (Jolissa) Coffey and grandson, Elias Coffey, daughter, Miranda Hill, and stepson, Issac Stepp. Also left behind are brothers and sisters, Manuel Coffey, Jerry (Marie) Coffey, Charlotta (Coffey) Legg, Darrell (Patty) Coffey, Harold (Vivian) Coffey; sisters-in-law, Joyce Coffey and Shirley Coffey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when A Celebration of Clifton's Life is scheduled. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Saint Mary's Medical Center for their care and compassion. Chapman's Mortuary in Huntington, WV will oversee arrangements.
