Elaine Delores Westmoreland
(December 4, 1935 - September 2, 2008)



Elaine D. Tate Westmoreland, 72, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 16th Street Baptist Church , with Rev. Roy Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. She was born December 4, 1935 in Huntington, a daughter of the late William and Bessie Shepherd Tate. She retired from Cabell-Huntington Hospital after 47 years as a dietician. She was a faithful member of 16th Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James C. Westmoreland, and a brother, Willie Tate. Elaine is survived by a daughter, Nina Darlene Westmoreland of Huntington; three sons, Barry Eugene (Cora) Westmoreland and Jerry T. Westmoreland of Huntington, and William C. (Pamela D.) Westmoreland, I, of Dayton, OH; a sister Claudine Tate of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, William Claborn Westmoreland, II, Jaytese D. Westmoreland, Aaren Westmoreland, Barry T. Westmoreland, Cedric Bell and S. Roshad Wilburn; one great-grandchild, Sean William Westmoreland, and a very dear sister-in-law, Sadie Westmoreland Page. A host of nieces nephews and friends also survive. Visitation will be Saturday 10 am until time of service at the church. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, is in charge of arrangements.
