Lorenzo Lee Canady
(September 9, 1929 - April 14, 2009)

Lorenzo Lee Canady, 79, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral Service will be 1pm Saturday, April 18, 2009 at The Glorious Church of God in Christ, 1665 Tenth Ave., Huntington with Rev. Martha Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Lorenzo was born September 9, 1929 in Sommersville, WV a son of the late Dave and Mary Robertson Canady. He was a veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Steel Drum in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two children; a daughter, Sandra Buckner and a son, Edward Buckner. He is survived by his loving wife, Minnie Lee Jackson Canady; four daughters, Delores Canady and Billie Jean Fears both of Huntington Stella )Harold) Fletcher of Decatur, AL and Denise Canady of Detroit, MI; three sons, Samuel Buckner of Decatur, AL, Ronnie Buckner of Huntington and Lorenzo Canady, Jr. of Detroit, MI; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. A host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the church. The care and service of Mr. Canady are under the direction of Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
