Gilbert Lee Collins
(January 5, 1927 - April 6, 2009)

Gilbert L. Collins, 82, of Huntington passed away Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He was born January 5, 1927, in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Dewey and Sarah Anderson Collins. He was a WWII veteran, faithfully serving his country in the U.S. Army. After the Army, Gilbert worked at INCO, where he retired after thirty years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Alice Collins; one daughter, Linda Collins Davis of Columbus, OH; two sons, Troy Collins of Huntington, WV and Gilbert William Collins of Birmingham, AL; eight grandchildren, Sacheen Garrison (Oyauma), Rommel Davis (Carla), Tashauna Russell (Jerry), Lisha Perdue (Erin), Aydden Collins, Kasine Collins, Precious Collins, and Whitney Collins, and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
