Peggy Friday
Peggy Friday was born on September 5, 1951 in
Huntington, West Virginia. She left her earthly body and went to be with the
Lord on Saturday, January 23, 2021. She was the loving daughter of Edna Ruth
Clay. Peggy spent her formative years with Reverend Dr. Eddie and Clara
Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister
Mary Louise Garrett and brothers Eddie "Mose" Nelson Jr., John Lewis Nelson,
and Earl Michael Nelson.
Peggy joined Calvary Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized. Peggy
graduated from Huntington High School. Peggy will be remembered for her love
of Saturday karate movies as a kid. Peggy was a generous soul, a loving
mother, and grandmother who put the needs of others before herself. She will
be greatly missed. Peggy was a woman who exemplified a deep faith in the
Lord.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Courtney Nelson; and three
sons Phillip Nelson, Christopher Nelson, and Patrick Nelson; as well as her
grandchildren Deloris Brown, Dana Brown, DeAndre Nelson, and Derek Nelson;
and great-grandchildren Xirena Staten and Aerison Napier. Peggy is also
survived by her seven brothers, Enos Paige; Vincent Coles; Jeffrey Coles;
Isaiah (JoAnn) Nelson; Willie (Evelyn-deceased) Nelson; James (Shirley)
Nelson; and Charles (Barbara) Nelson; three sisters, Allison (Holger)
Bumueller; Joyce Paige; and Annette (Michael) Smith; aunt Wilma (Clarence)
Simmons; and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
A Home-Going Service will be conducted 12:00 P.M, Thursday, February 4th,
2021 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, WV, with Teresa Ward
officiating. Interment will follow at Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV.
Visitation will be 11:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at
Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home.
