Obituary
Lyman Ray Greenlee
72,
of Point Pleasant, WV passed-away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2021. He
was born in Point Pleasant, WV on August 22, 1948 to Charles Ray and Trilba
Mae (Kimberling) Greenlee. Lyman was preceded in death by his parents, sons:
Charles Scott Greenlee and Nathan James Greenlee, paternal grandparents:
Dwight and Pearl Greenlee, maternal grandparents: Hoyt and Louise
Kimberling.
Lyman is survived by his grandson, Benjamin Scott Greenlee, brother: Charles
Larry (Terry) Greenlee, sister: Darla (Todd) Jackson, nieces: Miranda
Greenlee, Mallory Greenlee, LaNae Jackson, nephew: Derek Jackson,
great-nephew: Paxton Greenlee-Putney and long time friend and partner: Linda
Leach.
Lyman graduated with the 1966 class of Point Pleasant High School. In 1967,
he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp., proudly serving his country
through the Vietnam War. During his service he received the National Defense
Service Medal, bronze star (with combat “V”), purple heart, and many other
accolades. Gunnery Sargent Greenlee was honorably discharged in 1978. He
retired from the U.S Army Corp of Engineers in 2004. Lyman was a member of
the VFW Post 9926, American Legion Post 23, The Marine Corp League
Detachment 1180, and was recently accepted in “The Sons of the American
Revolution”. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, hunting, camping,
fishing on the Cranberry River, his trips to Alaska, history, quiet time at
his hilltop getaway, had several invention patents, time spend with friends
on Chestnut Ridge and Camp Desperation, American Revolutionary War
re-enactments where he portrayed the perfect image of an American
frontiersman.
A Military service will be held in Tu-Endie-Wei State Park 7:00 P.M,
Saturday, June 19, 2021. Following the service, the American Legion is
hosting a celebration of his life upstairs. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral
Home is honored to assist the Greenlee family.
