She was born on October 14, 1950 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of Patricia Ann “Patsy” Escue and the late Charles Franklin Escue. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helena Grace Escue. Kay graduated from Milton High School in 1968 and married Darrell, her high school sweetheart, in October of the following year. She was a graduate of Huntington School of Business and later enrolled at Marshall University earning a BS degree in Education. She taught at Hannan High School in Mason County where she was a favorite teacher among numerous students as she impacted many young lives. She served in her local church in a variety of capacities including pianist, Sunday school teacher, AWANA worker, and serving in youth ministry. Kay was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend. She loved to read and was seldom seen without a book in her hand. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She and Darrell are charter members of Souls for Christ Baptist Church (now River Cities Community Church). They settled on the family farm in Mason County where they raised their three boys and were well known in their community. She is survived by her mother, Patricia “Patsy” Escue of Upland, WV, her loving and loyal husband of 46 years, Darrell E. Hagley of Upland, WV, her sister, Laura Jane Edmonds (Mike) of Upland, WV, her children: Charles Hagley (Jamie) of Milton, WV, Bryan Hagley (Jennifer) of Barboursville, WV and John Hagley (Monica) of Hampton, VA. She is also survived by her 16 loving grandchildren. Kay loved to sing, tell stories, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. Visitation for the family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Heck Funeral Home in Milton. Funeral will held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 5th at River Cities Community Church in Huntington with Dr. Larry Greene and Pastor Scott Duncan conducting the service.
