Obituary



Tommy Lee Thornton, 70, of Gallipolis, OH passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Arbors of Gallipolis. He was born July 3, 1946 in Milton, WV, son of the late Jimmie J. and Naomia Stowasser Thornton. He was also preceded in death by one brother, David Thornton; one sister, Gertie Thornton; and two great granddaughters, Hope Dillon and Elyse Mullins. He is survived by three daughters, Alicia (Lee) Cook of Freeman, VA, Amelia (Hassan) Rifi of Huntington and Andrea (Darius Aldridge) Thornton of Chesapeake, OH; one son, Adam (Rachael) Thornton of Elsmere, DE; five brothers, Bill (Norma) Thornton, Roger (Becky) Thornton, Connie (Brenda) Thornton, Don (Bev) Thornton and James Thornton; five sisters, Virgie (John) Connors, Linda (Dave) Scarberry, Loretta Edmonds, and Mary (John) Childers; eight grandchildren, Phillip Lynne, Jr., Alison (Ryan Mullins) Linne; Courtney Baker, Kaitlyn Baker, Josiah Baker, Alyssa (Andy) Veres, Austin Sharp and Ryleigh Thornton; six great grandchildren, Wesley Linne, Lilly Linne, Bella Linne, Hope Dillon, Aryana Veres and Roman Mullins and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Doug Bragg officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to a charity or church of your choice in Tommy’s name.
