Obituary

LONNIE C. JOHNSON, 81, of Milton went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 6, 2004, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. W.R. "Bud" Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born June 17, 1922, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Ishmael and Ella Morrison Johnson. He was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother. He was retired from the Cabell County Board of Education and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the Balls Gap Missionary Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 139 Milton. He is survived by his wife, Oma V. Sutphin Johnson; two daughters, Patricia Lewis of Ona and Helen Coleman of Milton; four sons, Thomas Johnson of Culloden, John Johnson of Milton, Mark Johnson of Milton and Joseph Johnson of Ona; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and five sisters. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
