ObituaryEMZIE COLEMAN DAVIS, graduated from this life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 26, 2004. His life of 84 years seemed to have passed by so quickly. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Buddie Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Emzie was born February 9, 1920, to Milford and Maggie Davis of Milton. He was the eldest of 10 children. He retired from the C&O Shops in Barboursville as a laborer. He began his employment there in 1943. He liked farming and wearing his bib-overalls. He was a quiet person who never complained, yet enjoyed talking to anyone. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in November, 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Brown Washington; two brothers, Lloyd Davis and Denvil Davis; and son-in-law, Wallace Ray Vance. He is survived by four sisters, Hazel Foster of Hamptonville, N.C., Pauline Bruner of Troy, Ohio, Emilee Good of Troy, Ohio and Helen Carpenter of Huntington; two brothers, Delbert Davis of Troy, Ohio and Richard Davis of Milton. Emzie and Maylener observed their 60th wedding anniversary March 21, 2004. To this union was born three children, Charlotte Vance of St. Albans, Shirley and husband Terry Hoffman of Nitro and Clifford Davis of Milton; three granddaughters, Tammy and husband Thomas Mahon of Huntington, Tonia and husband C.T. Carroll of Barboursville and Jessica Hoffman of Nitro; five great-grandchildren, Nicole Frye, Carmen Carroll, and Natasha, David and Andrew Chapman; an aunt, Clara Gibson; three step grandchildren and former daughter-in-law, Linda Davis. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, at Heck Funeral Home.
