Obituary

VERBA GENE MURPHY, 74, of Culloden passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Bob O. Addis officiating. She was born December 6, 1930, in Culloden, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lewis A. and Beulah Rowsey Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ancil H. Murphy; two sons James Harvey Meadows and Larry Meadows; sister Joyce Hysell. She spent her whole life in the medical field, dedicated to helping others. She donated her body to the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Terry White of Hockessin, Del.; one daughter-in-law, Ann Meadows of Culloden; four brothers, James, Carl, Joe and Robert Thompson; four grandchildren, Hollie Cotner and her husband Mike, Christopher Meadows, Matthew White and Daniel White; two great-grandchildren, Eric Cotner and Savanna Meadows. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to Joan C.
