ObituaryMaudie Hughes Thompson On Sunday, October 16, 2005, our precious mother and grandmother, MAUDIE HUGHES THOMPSON, 94, of Ona, went to be with the Lord and her loved ones. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Jim Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Bexfield Cemetery on Barker Ridge. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Alan Thompson, David Thompson, Joe Lawhon, David Lawhon, Joey Lawhon, Michael Cremeans and Brad Nowlin. She was born July 20, 1911, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Mack and Anna Hazelett Hughes. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Burlie Thompson; one daughter, Jo Ann Thompson Jefferson; two grandsons, Richard Paul Thompson and Raymond Lee Thompson and a special friend and son-in-law, Zollie Lawhon. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Thompson Lawhon of Glenwood, W.Va.; five sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Imogene Thompson of Ona, Bob and Sissy Thompson of Gallipolis, Ohio, Dick and Mary Lou Thompson of Ona, Jerry and Jake Thompson of Lesage, W.Va., Bud and Carolyn Thompson of Ona. Grandma left behind 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lil Piazza and Bernice Piazza both of Ohio; and special cousin, Ora Kessick. Grandma, we will see you soon, which we promise you, as sure as the stars and the moon. God will take care of you in heaven where you are at peace now. The space that separates us isn't so far. Your loving memories will live in our hearts forever and always. We will never forget grandma's love. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
