Obituary
Garnet Lunsford, 91, of
Milton, went home to be with the
Lord on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. Funeral service and
a celebration of Garnet’s long and loving journey will be conducted at 1:00
PM, Friday, September 7th, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
Her nephew, the Reverend Norman Stickler will be officiating.
Entombment and committal service will follow in
Forest
Memorial Park,
Milton.
Garnet was the daughter of the late John C. and Lona Lawson Stickler and was
born in
Cabell
County on June 16,
1916. She was a member of
Culloden
Baptist
Church.
She was involved in the war effort by working at
Sylvania in
Huntington during World War II.
Garnet was employed at General Electric Company in
Bridgeport,
Connecticut until her
retirement in 1976 when she returned home to her family who loved and adored
her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James S.
Lunsford; a son, Jimmy Lunsford; seven sisters, Emily Stickler, Lina Marie
Medley, Dollie Meadows, Mildred Smith, Lora Jean Medley, Carolyn Justice,
and Wilma Miller; one brother, Lawrence Stickler. She is
survived by two loving daughters, Rose Davis of Huntington, Nancy and
Richard Edmonds of Milton; one brother, Jennings Stickler of Worthington,
KY; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lunsford of
Logan,
Ohio.
“MawMaw” Garnet leaves a loving legacy of life including twelve
grandchildren: Sherry and Darrell Walden of Ona, Mike
and Robin Davis of Huntington, Charles and Laura Edmonds of Milton, Bobby
and Amy Edmonds of Milton, Lisa and Mack Beckett of Salt Rock, Linda
Lunsford of Huntington, Teresa and Bruce Brenning of McArthur, Ohio, James
Lunsford of Lancaster, Ohio, Carolyn Dougherty of McArthur, Ohio, Anita and
Fred Dougherty of Logan, Ohio, Timmy and Leisa Lunsford of Logan, Ohio, and
Dian and Joel Cushing of Chillicothe, Ohio. Garnet
lovingly left behind 26 great grandchildren and 15 great great
grandchildren. “Children are an heritage from the Lord…”
Psalm 127:3. Friends, loved ones and those touched by
Garnet’s life may call at Heck Funeral Home on Thursday, September 6th
from 6 to 8 PM.
