Obituary

Rex Allen Roberts, “Mountain Man”, 57, of Milton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Danny Preece officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.  Rex was born July 2, 1950, in Cabell County, a son of the late Harry and Irene Chapman Roberts.  He is also preceded in death by one brother, Selodus Roberts; one sister, Pat Collins.  Rex was an avid historical enthusiast. He loved to visit the local schools to teach young children about our nation’s history during the pre 1840’s era portraying an early American trapper of the west. He was a member of the First Kentucky Company H Dismounted Calvary Civil War Unit.  He was also a United States Marshall Civil War reenactor.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Hurricane.  He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Roberts; one daughter, Whitney Roberts; one brother, Curtis Roberts; special niece, Anita Stowers; special nephew, Shawn Collins; and a host of other nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind a lot of special friends, Roger and Dianna Arthur, Greg Cooper, Jerry Davis, Mike Holland and Danny Preece and a host of others.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.  Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
