Obituary
James
A. Cain, of
Milton, died on the morning of
his 89th birthday March 12, 2008. James lost
his will to live after losing his beloved wife Hilda on February 27, 2008.
Hilda and James were married for 62 years and he could not bear
living without her. They were partners in life and now
they are partners for eternity. James coached football
at
Milton,
Huntington, Huntington East and
Barboursville
High Schools.
He coached basketball at
Milton
High School.
Those who coached with Coach Cain have said that he was a very good
coach in the fundamentals of the sport of football. He
was known to be firm but fair. He had a booming voice
that commanded respect. His teams were inspired to play
hard and were usually victorious. It pleased him when
his players went forth to be productive citizens in society.
Coach Cain loved it when his former players and coaches would stop by
for a visit or to take him out to Granny K’s for a meal.
Pap-Paw James was generous to his wife and family. He
was always willing to help out when there was a need. He
was the patriarch of our family and will be sadly missed by his one daughter
and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Lambert; two granddaughters, Lisa Beckett
(John) and Cathy Conrad (Lee); three great grandchildren, Savannah Beckett,
McKinley Conrad and Sawyer Beckett. Funeral services will be conducted 1
p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Allen
Stewart officiating. He will be buried at
White
Chapel
Memorial
Gardens.
There will be no funeral procession or committal service at the
cemetery. Friends may visit from Noon until 1 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home.
