Obituary

Bertha Lee Conner, 76, of Milton passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Bill Spears officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.  She was born September 21, 1932 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late William Edgar and Ethel Bexfield Bias.  Mrs. Conner was a member and pianist at Providence Baptist Church for 58 years.  She was also a 1950 graduate of Huntington High School, and she retired from the Cabell County Board of Education after 28 years.  She was an avid supporter of US veterans and enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roscoe Robert Conner; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Randy Maxey and Pam and Ken Klingler; one son, R. Craig Conner; five grandchildren, Ryan Maxey, Kendra Adkins, Josh Maxey, Robbie Klingler and Cameron Conner; six great grandchildren, Parker and Pressley Adkins, Joshua, Dylan, Karsyn Maxey and Bella Akers; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Tom Kuhn; and one brother, Bill Bias.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
