85, of Culloden passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 in
Marietta,
OH. Funeral
service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Monday, May 11, 2009 at Heck Funeral
Home, Milton with Rev. Darrell Bledsoe officiating.
Burial will follow in
Ball
Cemetery,
Milton.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion, Post 139,
Milton, whom will also serve as pallbearers. Honorary
pallbearers will be Zachery Martin, Christopher Martin, Gregory Champe,
Christian Champe, Jeffrey Martin, and Jahred Martin.
He was born May 9, 1923 in Cabell Co., WV a son of the late Charles
S. and Goldie Ball Martin. He was also preceded in death
by his son, Charles D. Martin and a sister, Eveline Hill.
He was a retired machinist for Blenko Glass. He
was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and in CBI assisting with
building roads. He was a loving, caring husband, father
and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and camping,
hunting and fishing. He was Baptist by faith and a born
again Christian. He will be missed by all who knew and
loved him. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, whom
he adored, Thelma B. Martin; daughters, Kyara Sue Martin and her fiancé, Ron
Mercer of Dunbar, Teresa and Gregory Champe of Lexington, KY; son, Jeffrey
and Tammy (Barker) Martin of Leon, WV; six grandchildren, Stephanie,
Christopher, Brittany, Brandi, Christian, and Jahred; three great
grandchildren, Lindsey, Zachery, and Kaden. Visitation will be from 6 to 8
PM, Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
