Obituary
Alma Pauline Ryder, 87, of Lesage, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2011 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Gordon Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery with Scott Ryder, Sam Shadd III, Micah Johnson, Rob Holmes, Ray Johnson, and Kenny McComas all serving as pallbearers. She was born January 2, 1924 in Cabell Co., WV a daughter of the late Clyde and Ruzella Scarberry Henry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester “Beck” Ryder; brothers, Basil, Johnnie E. and Kelson Henry; sister, Bunnie Kuhn; brothers-in-law, Herbert Rider, Don McFann, Raymond Rider, Harold Kuhn, and John Nowlin; sisters-in-law, Opal Rider, Madoline Rider, Inez McFann, Faye Henry, and Eva Nowlin. She was the former owner and operator of Ryder Grocery. She is survived by her son, Freddy E. and Linda Ryder of Lesage; daughters, Sharon and Wesley Thompson of Lesage, Sherry and Willard, Jr. Dailey of Milton; sister, Gladys and Darrell Ellis of Gallipolis, OH; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas, Jr. and Delores Ryder of Lesage; six grandchildren, Scott Ryder, Jennifer McComas, Rob Holmes, Sam Shadd III, Micah Johnson, and Brytani Dailey; step grandson, Will Dailey III; five great grandchildren, Treyton and Trevon Ryder, Dylan and Raelyn McComas and Mashayla Holmes; and her beloved cat, Tom. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
