Merrill Clinton Lunsford, 89, of Milton, WV, went to his heavenly home on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Cabell Health Care Center, surrounded in prayer by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and sister-in-law. He was born in Milton, WV, on September 19, 1926, Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Lunsford; his first wife, Alberta “Bertie” Lunsford; 6 sisters: Blema Conard, Hattie Rowsey, Thelma Navy, Ollie Edmonds, Martha Lunsford, and Ernestine Mullins; and 5 brothers: Claude Lunsford, Woody Lunsford, Clovis Lunsford, Dink Lunsford, and William Lunsford, Jr. Merrill was a veteran of WW II, proudly serving his country as a Sergeant, 814th Military Police Company. A 1953 graduate of The Cincinnati College of Embalming, he worked as a Funeral Director at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, WV, bringing dignity and comfort to countless families until his own death. He loved his farm, his horses, and was a skilled woodworker, a longtime member and deacon of Milton Baptist Church, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Annette Lunsford of Milton, daughter Shari Parsons and her husband Steve, of Stafford, VA; son Brian Davis, of Bradenton, FL; grandsons Nathan Parsons (wife Lindsay), of Colorado Springs, CO and Joel Parsons (wife Brittany), of Columbus, MD; and the many Lunsford cousins, nephews, and nieces that surrounded Merrill with joy and love. The family would like to extend special thanks to Bill and Connie Lunsford; Dr. Saurabh Singh; Dr. Donald Klinestiver; Pastor Allan Stewart and wife Susie, with Tracy Mills and wife Alisa, of Milton Baptist Church; Kris Holbert and the wonderful staff of Cabell Health Care Center; and the many friends and neighbors who brought so much joy to Merrill through the years. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, WV is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday, December 7, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral will be held at Milton Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 139 at Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV. A good man, he is gone, but not forgotten; he is loved and will be missed by many.
