VERLIN C. SPURLOCK
(April 22, 1929 - February 18, 2014)

Verlin C. Spurlock, 84 of Huntington, WV, passed away, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. He was born April 22, 1929 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Avery Gallaher and Iva Rose Spurlock. . In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Gerrell. He was Vice President of the former Guaranty National Bank, President of Cabell Federal Savings and retired from Huntington Federal Savings. He was a member of Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder, Deacon, former Trustee and Choir Member. He was also a 55 year member of the Southeast Huntington Lions Club and member of the WV Board of Realtors. He served as Chairman and Treasurer for the Cabell County March of Dimes for Fifteen years. former Scout Master at First Presbyterian Church and was an avid biker for Multiple Sclerosis for seventeen years. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean Spurlock of Huntington, WV; two daughters, Amy Spurlock of Cornelius, NC and Polly Bartee (Jason) of Barboursville, WV.; one granddaughter, Tessa Rose Bartee of Barboursville, WV. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2014. at the Ridgelawn Abbey of Devotion Chapel with Rev. Bob Bondurant officiating. Entombment will follow. The family request no flowers and donations to be made to Hospice of Huntington. Arrangements under the care of Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, WV.
