ObituaryNancy Kellogg Apgar
Nancy Kellogg Apgar, 86 of Huntington, W.Va. passed away, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at home. She was born March 27, 1930 in Madison, NJ, the daughter of the late, William McKinley and Myrtle Wilson Kellogg. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Carlton G. Apgar and one sister, Ellen Harris. She was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, former member of Huntington Woman’s Club, local media personality and television spokesperson for Foodland Grocery Stores. She studied voice at Juilliard and Peabody Institute, was a singer with the W.Va. Opera Company singing and performing, La, Boheme, Gianni Schicchi, Paggliacci, Madam Butterfly and Don Giovanni. She also sang with the Huntington Symphony in Ritter Park and was guest artist for many Marshall University Musicals. In addition to her musical accomplishments, she had her B.A. Degree in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, was an accountant and real estate agent. She is survived by her children, Dr. Drew Carlton Apgar (Teresa) of South Point, OH, Deborah Apgar Lonergan of Farmersville, TX, Dr. David Alan Apgar (Susan) of Huntington, W.Va, Diane Apgar Proia (Dr. Richard Proia) of Brookeville, MD and Dawn Apgar Davis of Huntington, W.Va. Grandchildren, Jen Vala (Jiri), Carlton Apgar, John Apgar (Meghan), Dr. Seamus Lonergan (Dr. Katy Lonergan), Brian Lonergan (Jessica), Dr. Tim Lonergan (Laura), Devin Holt (Dr. Jonathan Holt), Justin Apgar (Lorren), Dr. Kelly Apgar, Stephen and Jordan Apgar, Brandon and Brittany Proia and Glenn Davis; fifteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until a 3:00 PM service time on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Huntington, W.Va.
