Obituary



On the sixth of April, Two thousand seventeen, Korean War veteran, local businessman, CSX Retiree, proud father and loving husband Robert Harold Ramsey went home to be with the Lord. Never knowing a stranger, he was quick to tell stories of his full childhood in Mosheim, Tennessee, the Korean War, and the obstacles he overcame. Robert enjoyed a full and accomplished life through his family and friends, of which he was most proud.  He is survived by his loving wife Darla and their children; Michael and Jessica Ramsey of Hurricane, WV; Robert and Sandy Ramsey of Beckley, WV; and Tim and Marla Ramey of Huntington, WV. In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by seven grand-children Russell, Craig, Robert, Cody, Katie, Nick and Claire.  In his passing, Robert wanted to extend his gratitude and appreciation to the following family and friends for their continued love and support; Gary and special niece Ella Joyce Durr of Mosheim, Tennessee; Betty Beach of Mosheim, TN; Joyce Knight of Proctorville, OH; Priscilla Ferguson of Proctorville, OH; Martin and Belinda Knight of Proctorville, OH; Dan and Judy Patrick of Huntington, WV; Dr. Richard and Pat Manis of Huntington, WV; Rick and Josie Adams of South Point, OH; Connie McMaster of Sunrise, OH; Pastor Aaron and Debbie Karr of Hurricane, WV; and Chris and Joanna Rogar of Hurricane, WV; Josh and Lea Burton of Hurricane, WV; Ben and Christy Smith of Hurricane, WV.  Robert was proceeded in death by; brothers Doak, Walter, and Jay Ramsey all of Greeneville, TN; sisters Ella Kate Ramsey and Ida Bell Keister of Greenville, TN; his son Jeffrey Allen Ramsey of Gallipolis, OH; his parents Elbert and Carrie Ramsey of Mosheim, Tennessee; brother-in-laws Michael and Stephen Knight of Huntington, WV.  In lieu of flowers, gifts, or food; the family requests any gifts be in the form of a donation to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Robert's name in honor of those who have served, currently serving, and will serve. Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. is caring for the family.   Graveside services and military honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, W.Va. Burial will follow the services.
