Richard Edward “Rick” Simmons, 59 of Huntington, WV, passed away, Thursday, June 3, 2021 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born January 25, 1962 in Huntington, WV the son of the late, Richard Gene and Helen Ann Legg Simmons. He was retired U.S. Army Veteran and former Huntington City Councilman for District #9. Rick was heavily involved in community service. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Vicky Sue Smith Simmons of Huntington, WV; three children, Stacey Murphy (Calvin) of Huntington, WV, Richard Gene Simmons of Greenwood, Indiana and Kara Renee Simmons of Huntington, WV; one sister, Tracey Cornwell of Huntington, WV; one brother, Michael Eugene Simmons (Beverly) Huntington, WV; five grandchildren, Shawna Murphy, Brionna Murphy, Toby Simmons, Lincoln Simmons and Keagan Simmons and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
